Firefighters Rescue Dog From RV And House Fire

CLAYTON – Firefighters rescued a dog from an RV and house fire this afternoon.

Around 3:30pm, crews responded to a report of an RV on fire under a shelter next to a home in the 1900 block of Jack Road near Ranch Road. A propane tank in the RV exploded. The fire quickly spread to an adjacent pickup truck and to the home.

Fire crews from the Clayton, Cleveland and Wilson’s Mills Fire Departments responded and had the blaze contained within minutes.

The fire burned the side of the home and caused smoke to fill the interior. Crews rescued a dog that was inside the home. The homeowners were away at the time.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office detoured traffic until the scene cleared around 6:00pm.

The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting the Clayton Fire Department investigator in determining the cause.
