CLAYTON – An early morning house fire in the Glen Ridge Subdivision off Glen Laurel Road caused extensive damage. Around 3:00am Friday, a neighbor reported the fire on Palmer Drive.

Clayton, Wilson’s Mills and Northside fire departments responded and found an empty house with flames coming through the roof.

The resident was away but his dog, cat and fish were home – and, all survived.
According to authorities, the home suffered extensive damage.

The American Red Cross was called to assist. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
