SELMA – Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a mobile home Wednesday afternoon on Byrd Road, off Buffalo Road, south of Highway 42.
The fire was reported around 2:20pm by a teenager who went to visit his grandmother. He evacuated his grandmother and several small dogs, including a newborn litter.
Firemen found a working fire underneath the home which they quickly extinguished. Johnston County Fire Marshal Adam Stanley said the fire was determined to be accidental and electrical related.
No injuries were reported. The Red Cross responded to assist the displaced homeowner.
The Thanksgiving, Archer Lodge and Wilson’s Mills Fire Departments, Johnston County EMS and Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded.
