First Public Meeting Scheduled For Johnston County Comprehensive Transportation Plan 

SMITHFIELD – The Johnston County Planning Department invites residents and stakeholders to the first public meeting to discuss the Comprehensive Transportation Plan. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 4, at 6:00 p.m. at the Tart Building, located at Johnston Community College.

The Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) is a multi-modal, long-range plan designed to address the future mobility needs of Johnston County. It outlines essential transportation system improvements necessary to accommodate the anticipated growth and development of the region over the next 25 years. These improvements include projects for highways, bicycle and pedestrian paths, public transportation, and rail infrastructure.

Attendees will learn about the future transportation needs and projects for Johnston County and gain valuable insights into the transportation initiatives planned to enhance connectivity and accessibility throughout the County. Staff will also be on hand to discuss how transportation planning aligns with broader land use goals and environmental sustainability efforts.
