First Responders Recognized

A number of events will take place in the area this weekend thanking first responders for their service.

Sunday marks the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

Area churches and civic groups have a number of events planned to recognize local law enforcement officers, EMS workers and firefighters.

A luncheon was held in Four Oaks on Friday to thank the emergency workers from that area.

A special ceremony was also held at the Wake Tech Community College Public Safety Education Campus. The Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment was a part of the ceremony.

Selma and Smithfield churches are planning special activities centered around first responders Sunday.
