A former employee at a Johnston County grocery store was arrested Tuesday on embezzlement charges.
On July 19th, a manager at the Food Lion on Neuse River Parkway off Highway 42 East near Clayton reported an employee was ringing up fictitious returns and keeping the money.
The employee, Amber Consuela Norris, 30, of the 200 block of Short Journey Road, Smithfield was allegedly caught on store security cameras ringing up the returns even though no customer was present and no items were actually being returned.
Norris allegedly obtained approximately $400 during 12 separate fictitious transactions. She was charged today with one felony count of embezzlement. She was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
