Forged Check Investigation Leads Detectives To Suspect

CLAYTON, N.C. — An investigation into a counterfeit check cashed at a bank in the Flowers community has resulted in the arrest of a Fayetteville man on multiple felony charges.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the case stems from an incident reported May 6 at the Fifth Third Bank branch in the Flowers area.
Investigators allege that Malik Quinton Davis, 27, of Fayetteville, presented and cashed a counterfeit check for $6,265. The check was reportedly forged using the account information of a business based in Kannapolis.
Detectives identified Davis as the suspect during the investigation and arrested him on June 24.
He has been charged with felony forgery, uttering a forged instrument, obtaining property by false pretenses, and conspiracy.
The investigation remains ongoing.
