Former ER Nurse Turned Entrepreneur Wins Business Person of the Year

Melissa Overton, President and CEO of the innovative leadership, safety, and interactive training company, MedicalTraining.me, was announced as the award recipient of the celebrated Jimmy Creech Small Business Person of the Year.

The 2018 Small Business Person of the Year Award, recognizing Overton’s professional innovation and success, as well as her energetic commitment and extensive contributions to the Triangle East communities, was received at the 49th Annual Smithfield-Selma Chamber Annual Meeting and Awards ceremony.

The Award is named in honor of Mr. Creech, the late pharmacist who ran a business and served the Smithfield community for more than 50 years. The Smithfield-Selma Chamber of Commerce is entering its 50th year of operation; Overton has been a member since she opened her business in Downtown Smithfield.
