Former Insurance Agent Accused Of Fraudulently Receiving $74,000 In Claims

A former insurance agent has been indicted by a Johnston County Grand Jury on insurance fraud charges.

Catherine Ann Davis, 63, of the 5200 block of Glendale Road, Kenly was indicted November 4th by a Grand Jury in Smithfield on seven counts of insurance fraud and seven counts of obtaining property by false pretense, all felonies.

Davis was previously employed as an AFLAC insurance agent.

Davis is accused of providing written and oral statements concerning claims for payment while knowing that the statements contained false and misleading information. The alleged offenses occurred between July 19, 2014 and July 19, 2016. She is accused of obtaining approximately $74,000 in insurance claim payments using false identities over the two-year period, according to the NC Department of Insurance, which conducted the investigation into the case.
