BENSON – A Four Oaks man died Friday morning as a result of a motorcycle accident in the McGee’s Crossroads area. It was reported at 4:59am.
The State Highway Patrol said Jacob Mason Hicks, 29, of Four Oaks was operating a 2005 Yamaha on Dixon Road. Troopers said Hicks ran off the road to the right in a curve, struck a ditch and overturned. Hicks was ejected and died as a result of his injuries.
Based on the initial investigation, speed appears to be a contributing factor. Alcohol does not appear to be involved. Hicks was wearing a DOT approved helmet.
