A 33 year-old Four Oaks man has been arrested in connection with a check cashing scam. The incident was first reported in September 2019 at the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) in the Cleveland community.
SECU staff said a checking account was opened, numerous checks were written far exceeding the amount of money in the account, then the account was quickly closed.
Christen Lamar Hatley of Dublin Court, Four Oaks was arrested March 5th and charged with felony obtaining property by false pretenses. Bail was set at $5,000.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said a second arrest in the case is pending.
