Four Oaks Police arrested one person and seized suspected narcotics during a search warrant Monday afternoon. Police Chief Stephen Anderson said officers were initially dispatched to a trespassing call at Ronnie’s Country Store for an individual refusing to leave the business. Police arrived and the suspect still declined to leave.
While officers were taking 26 year-old Daniel Velasquez of Dunn into custody for trespassing they located narcotics and a digital scale in his pocket. Police were able to determine Velasquez was staying in a room at the Travelers Inn on Highway 96. Police went to the motel and upon approaching the entry door to the room detected a strong odor of marijuana outside.
Chief Anderson said a search warrant was executed on the room where Velasquez had been staying. Police said the room was set up for narcotics distribution. Eight grams of methamphetamine along with heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized.
While being escorted to a patrol car, Chief Anderson said Velasquez headbutted the fender of a marked patrol car. He was not injured but the vehicle was damaged.
Velazquez faces several charges including felony possession of a controlled substance, resisting a public officer and injury to property. He is being held on a $25,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail. Additional charges have not been ruled out.
