The Johnston County Department of Public Utilities has received approval from County Commissioners to work with the Town of Four Oaks on extending water and sewer services to serve a new Ashley Furniture store under construction on Brewer Road off Highway 96 South.
The Town of Four Oaks will design and construct the sewer portion of the project. The County will design and construct the water portion, which will include a 16 inch water main along Highway 96 South, from US 701 to Spring Lake Road.
In a unanimous vote this month, commissioners approved spending $1,579,409 for the water main extension. Both the County and Town have applied for several economic development grants to help offset the cost of the project.
