Fraud Alert: Woman Posing As Johnston County Health Department Employee
CLEVELAND – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident involving an unknown person posing as a Johnston County Public Health Department employee.
On Monday, July 4th, a resident in the Cleveland community said a woman went to their home and claimed to be an employee at the Health Department. She presented a photo identification card appearing to be from the agency. The woman stated she was checking COVID-19 vaccination cards and medical information.
The Health Department confirmed they have not sent any employees to homes to inquire about COVID vaccination or medical information and would never do so.
Authorities don’t know if the woman was attempting to steal the victim’s identification, or using the bogus story as an excuse to enter the home to look for items to steal.
The impersonator was described as a white female with a tan, approximately 30 to 40 years old, 5 foot 7, 150 pounds. She was driving a light brown or tan small Chevy SUV.
If you have any information about this person, or if you have been contacted by this individual posing as a Johnston County Health Department employee, contact Detective B. Allen at the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000.
