Funeral arrangements have been announced for Harnett County deputy sheriff Chris Johnson. Deputy Johnson died February 6 in a motor vehicle accident on Darroch Road outside of Lillington. He was 51 years-old.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 13, 2023 at 2:00pm at Central Baptist Church, located at 6050 Plainview Highway near Dunn. Burial will take place at the family cemetery, located at 375 Pearson Road in Clinton.
Deputy Johnson was assigned as a school resource officer at Highland Middle School. He served the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office for 16 months. He has previously worked with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years and the Dunn Police Department for 9 years.
Johnson was a law enforcement veteran who was well respected by his colleagues in the profession and in his community.
“As we mourn the untimely loss of Deputy Johnson, we recognize the impact he has had on the community where he lived but also the community in which he served. Please continue to pray for not only his family, but also those who he has impacted through his dedicated service to the Harnett County School System,” the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office stated in a release this week.
A GoFundMe account has been established for Deputy Johnson’s wife and four children.
