Funeral services will be held Thursday for a volunteer firefighter who died after responding to an accident scene.
Kenly Fire Department firefighter John Morris Davis Jr., 45, began suffering chest pains at the scene of a motor vehicle accident Saturday night. He was rushed to the hospital but died from an apparent heart attack.
Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Kenly Funeral Service in Kenly followed by burial at the Center Ridge Presbyterian Church, where he was a member. His family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Kenly Fire Department.
Davis is survived by his wife of 14 months, three daughters and a brotherhood of firemen.
According to his obituary, “John was a kind soul with a quiet demeanor and a servant’s heart. He was selfless, a protector and fiercely loyal to his family and friends. Therefore, it was natural he chose as his life’s calling a profession that puts serving others at its core and personal safety at risk.”
