Funeral arrangements have been announced for a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church who died when the church van overturned on Highway 96 in Wake County on Sunday evening.
William Henderson Clayton Sr., 84, died at the scene. Mr. Clayton retired from a long career with Johnston County Cooperative Extension. He was known for his love of 4-H. After his retirement from the cooperative extension service he was a teacher assistant in Johnston County Schools from 1990 to 1999.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 26th from 10:00am until 11:00am at Poplar Springs Christian Church at 6115 Old Stage Road, Raleigh. Funeral Services will be held at the church beginning at 11:00am. His burial will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton.
Arrangements are being handled by R.L. Sanders Funeral Home of Smithfield.
