Hundreds of emergency service workers from Johnston and surrounding counties paid their final respects to firefighter Christopher Daniels on Friday. Daniels, 40, died Aug. 17th while on duty at the Pine Level Fire Department. His death appears to have been from natural causes.
Funeral services were held at the Branch Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church, where Chris taught Sunday School to third and fourth graders. Burial with fire department honors was then held at the Price Cemetery near Pine Level.
Chris was a fulltime firefighter with the Smithfield Fire Department where he was an Engineer and Interim Captain. He also worked part-time with the Thanksgiving and Selma Fire Departments.
