Garner Police Shop With A Cop Program Helps 35 Children

The Garner Police Department held its annual Shop with a Cop program on Sunday.

With the generous support of longtime primary sponsor TT&E Iron and Metal the Police Department was able to provide a Christmas shopping trip for 10 families and a total of 35 children.

With the support of area businesses, the children received breakfast and had a chance to visit with Santa and Mimi the Clown before going shopping with volunteers from the Garner Police Department, Garner Police Athletics and Activities League, the Garner Citizens and Police Together team, United Way of the Triangle and the Eaton Corporation.

New for this year, each child got books to take home as part of the Trunk of Books program partnership. Through a partnership with Youth Thrive of Wake County, the Police Department is committed to helping local youth be at their reading level by third grade.

Garner Police were assisted by Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, Angie’s Restaurant, Mimi the Clown and Community of Hope Ministries.
