Garner is a ‘Great Place to Be’ this weekend at Lake Benson Park for the towns 20th Annual Relay for Life. The annual event begins this Friday at 4:00pm with an opening celebration, followed by a Survivor ceremony and lap at 6:00pm.
This year’s theme is the ‘Carnival of Hope.’ There will be games, food, raffles, and entertainment by local bands as part of this family oriented fundraising event. All proceeds go to support the American Cancer Society.
According to event organizers, Garner has raised over $2.5 million dollars during the 20 year history of this event. Activities are planned through Saturday morning to include a car show, a dance party, Zumba class, line dancing, and more. The Garner Police CAPT (Citizens and Police Together) will also be on hand to provide Child IDs to parents.
