Goldsboro Selects Obie Agbasi As New Golf Course Director

The City of Goldsboro has hired Mr. Obie Agbasi as the new Golf Director at the Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course. He replaces Mr. Jody Dean, who retired in June. Mr. Agbasi’s first day on the job is October 28th. His starting salary is $68,000.

“We’re excited to welcome Obie to the City of Goldsboro,” said City Manager Tim Salmon. “He has the expertise and experience in all aspects of golf course operations and maintenance that we need to take the Goldsboro Municipal Golf program to the next level. I am confident those who play our golf course will appreciate what he brings to their game.”

Mr. Agbasi most recently served as Director of Golf for the City of Monroe, Louisiana’s two public golf courses – the championship 18-hole Chennault Park course and the 9-hole executive style Forsythe Park course. He was also the Golf Operations Director at Black Bear Golf Course in Delhi, La. During his seven-year service at Black Bear, the course was voted “Best Public Course” in Louisiana six of those years. Mr. Agbasi is a PGA Golf Professional with more than 16 years of experience in strategic planning, business development and operations management at government operated facilities.

Mr. Agbasi earned his Professional Golf Management Certificate from the PGA Education Center in 2010. He also completed the PGA Golf Operations Management Seminar in 2009, the PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit in 2004 and USGA Rules of Golf Workshop in 2004. Mr. Agbasi is a Class A member of the Professional Golfers Association of America, and he has played in two PGA national championships (2016 and 2018).
