Goldsboro Woman Charged In Series Of Trash Can Fires

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – A 37-year-old Goldsboro woman has been arrested following an investigation into a series of suspicious fires involving city-owned trash cans.

The investigation began Sept. 15 after Goldsboro Police and the Goldsboro Fire Department responded to fires in the 100 block of Lionel Street and the 100 block of Patrick Street.

Investigators said City of Goldsboro trash cans had been set on fire at both locations.

The investigation led officers to secure warrants Sept. 17 for Laketta Shawntell Williams, 37, of Goldsboro.

Police said another trash can fire was reported Sept. 21 in the 500 block of East Ash Street. Investigators obtained an additional warrant against Williams in connection with that incident.

Williams was taken into custody Sept. 23 after Goldsboro Police responded to a trespassing call on S. Center Street.

She was served with the outstanding warrants and received a $3,000 secured bond.
