Tuesday afternoon, Teresa Grant officially filed for re-election to the Johnston County Board of Education. Grant is seeking her second four-year term. If re-elected, Grant says it also will be her last term on the school board. She would like to return for another four years to continue to do more for public school students.
“I think we have done some good things. We really pushed apprenticeships, internships and job shadowing for the children not interested going to college. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made there. The dual program with JCC and NC State to help grow our own teachers is an amazing program. The Share Tables in schools is an awesome thing we have put into place, and the Cleveland aviation curriculum, and hopefully next year a mechanics program. Those are some things we have done I am super excited about and I want us to do more.”
Grant added, “Obviously I want every child to be highly ready for college. For those who are not, I want them to be career ready.”
Grant, who resides in the Cleveland community, is a Chemist and Safety Officer with the NC Department of Agriculture in Raleigh. When not at work or performing school board duties, her spare time is devoted to enjoying her three grandchildren.
