South Johnston High School has received a grant from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission. The grant will pay for construction of a new 50 x 60 foot pre-engineered metal building to expand the Ideal Academy Agriculture program at the school. The building will also include a 10 x 60 foot shelter on one side, a 4 inch concrete slab, 10 foot wide rollup door, LED lighting, plumbing and HVAC systems.
Sohn, Inc. of Wilson’s Mills was the low bidder for construction of the building. The school board awarded a $184,000 bid to Sohn, Inc. Other bids were received by Vortex Construction Company for $199,653 and Talon Construction Company for $219,000.
