Smithfield Police are investigating a road rage incident on South Brightleaf Boulevard (Highway 301). Police said the driver of a car pulled a gun on another motorist Monday afternoon in the 2300 block of South Brightleaf Boulevard at the entrance to the Brightleaf Flea Market.
Around 1:15pm, a couple from Onslow County were in a vehicle with their child and were pulling onto the highway from the flea market parking lot when another motorist pointed a gun at them. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
Police Captain R.K. Powell said the victims were able to get the license plate number from the suspect’s vehicle and notify police. Captain Powell said Tuesday that officers are still trying to locate the driver for questioning.
