Authorities in Johnston and Wake counties are working to see if the armed robberies of two Dollar General stores about 30 minutes apart Monday afternoon are connected.
Around 3:00pm, the suspect walked into the Dollar General at 10525 Cleveland Road, just off Highway 42 West, shopped for several minutes and took the items to the cash register where he purchased the goods. As the cashier was completing the transaction, the suspect pulled out a handgun and ordered all the employees and customers to the back of the store.
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money from the register before fleeing. About 30 minutes later, a Dollar General on Rock Quarry Road was also robbed.
No injuries were reported.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the surveillance images is asked to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5010. Callers can remain anonymous.
