Smithfield Police said $5,000 in cash was stolen during a home invasion Monday night. It happened at a residence on North Street near the Johnston County Department of Social Services Building.
Around 7:45pm, the 38 year-old victim said he heard a knock on his door. Moments later two people burst inside and at gunpoint stole his wallet, cell phone and the large sum of cash.
Police Captain T.S. Choe said one suspect was a white male, the other was a white female. The victim said he heard a vehicle nearby but could not provide a description. The victim was not harmed.
