Gunman Robs Two Kenly Businesses

Kenly Police are investigating two business robberies. They happened about 20 minutes apart Wednesday night and are likely connected.

Kenly Town Manager Greg Dunham said the first robbery was reported around 8:00pm at O’Reilly Auto Parts.  A lone suspect who was heavily disguised entered the business with a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The employee activated an alarm causing the suspect to flee without taking any cash.

Minutes later, the same gunman is believed to have robbed the Motel 6.  The suspect made away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to the both scenes to assist Kenly Police. Photos by John Payne
