Through this initiative, Hand Picked Nursery and Schools Need Support have donated over 1,200 succulents and cacti to 17 local nonprofits, each dedicated to uplifting and supporting individuals in need.

The Plants of Hope Initiative aims to inspire growth and healing, using plants as a symbol of resilience and transformation. Nonprofit organizations across Johnston County, such as Recovery Alive, Street Reach of Johnston County, Activate Selma, and others, have received these plants to share with the individuals and families they serve. Each donation represents a commitment to fostering mental wellness and community care.

“At Hand Picked Nursery, we believe in the transformative power of plants, which is why our Plants of Hope initiative is so close to my heart. By working with local nonprofits and schools, we are planting more than just greenery- we are sowing seeds of resilience, connection, and mental wellness in our community. These partnerships need our collective support and to grow stronger, ensuring that every individual, student, and family can experience the healing and hope that comes from nurturing life,” said Reinhart Elboeck, CEO of Hand Picked Nursery.

The recipients of these donations range from organizations supporting those facing homelessness and addiction recovery to groups empowering youth through leadership development and agricultural education. Schools Need Support assisted with connecting nonprofits and communities to ensure these plants reach those who will benefit most. Each plant embodies the hope and resilience needed to overcome challenges and grow stronger together.

Hand Picked Nursery and Schools Need Support are grateful for the generosity and collaboration of the Johnston County community, which made this initiative possible. By partnering with local nonprofits, the initiative aims to plant seeds of positivity and wellness that will flourish for years to come.
