Harnett County Man Missing After Last Seen At Bald Head Island

BALD HEAD ISLAND, N.C. — Authorities are searching for a Harnett County man who has been missing for more than two weeks after he was last seen at the Bald Head Island Marina.

Nathaniel Bane, 40, of Harnett County, was last seen around 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12, according to the Bald Head Island Department of Public Safety.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has joined the search.

On Monday, SBI special agents assigned to the agency’s Coastal District, along with members of the SBI boat team and human remains detection K-9 teams, spent several hours searching Bald Head Island and areas near where Bane was last seen.

Authorities said the search did not locate anything significant that would help investigators determine what happened to Bane.

The U.S. Coast Guard and the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries Marine Patrol also assisted with the search.

Anyone who has seen Bane or has information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Bald Head Island Department of Public Safety.
