Harnett County Public Library to Close Public Access on March 18

Curbside Pickup will be available starting March 19

Harnett County officials announced that the Harnett County Public Library, located at 601 S. Main Street, Lillington, will be closed for public access starting at 2 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 due to COVID-19.

Although the building will be closed for public access, Public Library staff will continue to offer services and provide support to citizens during this time. Librarians will be available by phone at 910-893-3446 between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday. The Library will also be offering curbside pickup starting March 19 which will allow citizens to request materials and schedule pick up in front of the library. Patrons must call 910-893-3446 and schedule a time for Curbside Pickup. Items will not be released without an appointment.

Harnett County Public Library will also be offering free online resources for citizens. The Library has an extensive collection of electronic resources that are available to patrons at home, including eBooks, audiobooks, animated storybooks, magazines, video, study resources and more.

Patrons with a library card can login to resources using their library card number and PIN number (by default the last 4-digits of their phone number). Harnett County School students can login to resources by using their student ID number in the “Library Barcode Number” field, and the last 4-digits of their student ID in the “PIN number” field. Citizens who do not currently have Library cards can contact Harnett County Public Library for assistance. In addition, other local libraries within the County have made the following operational changes:

  • Boone Trail Public Library will be closed for public access starting March 18. The Library will offer curbside pick-up and drop-off of library materials Monday through Friday from 5:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am-12:00pm until further notice. Citizens can call 910-984-1094 to make an appointment to reserve library materials.
  • Anderson Creek Public Library will be closed through March 28.

For information on the Public Libraries operated by the County’s municipalities – Angier, Coats, Erwin, and Dunn – citizens are encouraged to reach out to your local municipality to confirm any operational changes.
