Harnett County Teacher Jailed On Multiple Charges

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — A Harnett County school teacher was arrested Thursday following an investigation into illegal substances on campus, according to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office.
Jocelyn Lee McArthur, 33, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver on or near a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of a weapon on educational property (not a gun).
Authorities said the investigation began March 26 after the sheriff’s office received information that a teacher at Overhills High School was in possession of an illegal substance while on campus.
Deputies charged McArthur in connection with the incident. Officials did not immediately release details about the types of substance involved or the nature of the weapon.
McArthur is being held at the Harnett County Detention Center under a $102,000 secured bond.
Sheriff Wayne Coats said the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
