HARNETT COUNTY – On October 1, Cape Fear Valley Health began the rollout of the new rebranding of Harnett Health facilities, the last step in the process that began in 2021, when Harnett Health joined Cape Fear Valley Health. Names and signage across all Harnett Health facilities will be changed to reflect the Cape Fear Valley Health brand.
“The exceptional care our patients in Harnett County receive remains our top priority, and we are proud to continue delivering it with the same dedicated team of professionals they know and trust,” said Cape Fear Valley Health CEO Michael Nagowski. “What’s changing is the continued expansion and enhancement of services in Harnett County under the Cape Fear Valley Health brand, as well as facility names, as the Cape Fear Valley brand replaces all the older Harnett Health signage and names.”
Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital will now be known as Cape Fear Valley Betsy Johnson Hospital. Central Harnett Hospital will be called Cape Fear Valley Central Harnett Hospital. Doctor’s offices, clinics and other local medical centers will also don the Cape Fear Valley name.
This change is expected to roll out throughout the month of October, as signage is installed. Each individual location’s name change will be formalized once the location’s external signage is installed. Patients will also see the facility names changing on billing and appointment messaging, as well as other health forms and documents.
“In almost all the cases, the names are nearly the same as they were before, now they’ll just say ‘Cape Fear Valley Health’ instead of ‘Harnett Health,’ said Harnett Health President Cory Hess. “Our employees and internal systems like Epic have already joined under Cape Fear Valley’s naming and branding, so we’re excited to finalize this process.”
Harnett Health was previously partnered with Cape Fear Valley under a management agreement for seven years before officially joining the health system in 2021. The partnership allowed Harnett Health to stabilize operations, expand services and streamline operations and technology.
Cape Fear Valley Health Systems closed the labor and delivery unit at Betsy Johnson Hospital on Oct. 15, due in part to “declining demand for maternity services, recruitment challenges, and financial realities.” The care of expectant mothers was transferred to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Cape Fear Valley Health leaders say they have expanded care, however, in the many towns under its umbrella with new clinics for family medicine, heart and vascular, neurology and orthopedic services, and the new Cape Fear Valley Health Pavilion Lillington. The Pavilion will include the new Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center – Lillington as well as tentative plans for the facility to also include specialists such as orthopedics/podiatry; ear, nose, throat/allergy/audiology; a surgical clinic, neurology; cardiology and rheumatology.
Below is a list of all of the name changes set to occur as part of this rebranding. Several clinics that have opened recently in Harnett County already have “Cape Fear Valley” in their name and are not listed here. Locations are listed by their current names followed by new names.
