Robin Hiatt, a teacher at Powhatan Elementary School, has been named the Clayton Chamber of Commerce Super Star Teacher of the Month for the month of May.

Super Star teachers demonstrate excellence and leadership in their classroom, creativity and motivation of their students and show a high level of commitment to our community.

Hiatt’s dedication to creating lifelong learners shows every day in her classroom.  She is an AIG certified teacher that likes to bring the outside world into her classroom.  After a recent trip to Alaska, Ms Hiatt infused her classroom with these experiences and allowed the students to be actively involved in the principles of the Iditarod.

She trains fellow staff members in technology uses and works on the county’s math curriculum units to improve student math successes.   Ms Hiatt promotes civic responsibility in her classroom and her students recently made a charitable donation to the local community.
