Donald-Cecil-Sutton-mug-FiA weekend traffic stop for a speeding violation on Highway 70 in Johnston County led to a significant drug bust. Around 3:00pm Saturday, a Johnston County deputy was running radar on US 70 just east of Smithfield when they spotted a car traveling 77mph in a 55mph zone.  After stopping the car, the officer spotted a handgun in the vehicle and called for backup.

While searching the suspects and car, a passenger was reportedly caught with 11 bags of high grade marijuana in their possession.  That passenger, 21 year-old Donald Cecil Sutton of Ferndale Lane, Kinston was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana.

A firearm and 24 rounds of ammunition were also seized.
