Highway 301 Collision Injures Two

DUNN — Two drivers were injured in a two-vehicle crash late Friday on U.S. Highway 301 north of Dunn.

Preliminary reports indicate both vehicles were traveling northbound when one driver attempted to pass the other. The passing vehicle was unable to complete the maneuver and reentered the travel lane, striking the second vehicle in the side.

The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway and into a ditch.

Dunn Emergency Services crews had to remove the front windshield of one vehicle to reach the driver, who was trapped inside.

Both drivers were transported to WakeMed for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
