The NC Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a vehicle involving in a crash Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 95 in Johnston County. Around 4:30pm, the Four Oaks Fire Department and Four Oaks EMS was dispatched to a rollover accident on I-95 near the 88 mile marker, between Keen Road and US 701.
According to the Highway Patrol, two vehicles were northbound on the interstate when they made contact. The driver of an SUV lost control, skidded off the roadway to the right, struck a guardrail and overturned in a ditch. One occupant was unable to exit the overturned vehicle and had to be assisted out by firefighters. Two occupants in the SUV were checked out at the scene by Four Oaks EMS but were not transported to the hospital.
Sgt. J.L. January said the passing vehicle continued traveling northbound on I-95. Witnesses provided the Highway Patrol a vehicle description and a possible license plate number of the vehicle that failed to stop. Troopers are working to locate the vehicle as part of the investigation, Sgt. January said.
Four Oaks Police also responded to the scene to assist.
