A Smithfield family returned home from being out of town several days to discover their home had been burglarized. The break-in was discovered Tuesday morning at a home on 12th Street in Smithfield.
Police Captain R. Sheppard said while the family was on a short vacation the break-in occurred. The home was forcibly entered and $3,140 in items were taken, including a TV, video game system, perfume, even a smoke detector.
