A 25 year-old woman is in custody after being arrested inside a Smithfield home this week.
Around 4:15am Tuesday, Smithfield Police received a report of a burglary in progress at a home on Pineview Circle. Officers arrived and found the alleged intruder Keona Lajoy Phelps inside the residence. Police also found where Phelps had damaged a window to gain entry.
Phelps was charged with first degree burglary and transported to the Johnston County Jail where she was held under a $50,000 bond.
The 19 year-old occupant of the home was not injured. Police Captain R. Sheppard said the victim and suspect were prior roommates.
