BENSON – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide.
Around 2:00am Sunday, a Johnston County state trooper was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Holley Grove Road and Godwin Lake Road in the Meadow community outside of Benson.
The trooper reportedly found a car adjacent to a building with a deceased person in the vehicle.
Unconfirmed reports indicate the victim suffered a gunshot wound. It is unknown if there was a motor vehicle accident.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death, which they confirmed is being treated as a homicide.
No additional information has been released, including the name of the person who died.
