House Fire Under Investigation

CLAYTON – A Johnston County home sustaining significant damage following a fire that started on the second floor.

The fire was reported at 9:32pm Sunday, February 2 in the 2300 block of Vinson Road, off Glen Laurel Road.

Clayton, Smithfield, and Wilson’s Mills Fire arrived to find a fire in the vicinity of an upstairs bathroom. The fire was quickly contained.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office with the investigation.

The Red Cross responded and provided aid to a family of four, who escaped after smoke detectors alerted them to the blaze.
