Goldsboro Police announced today (Wednesday) they have identified human remains found inside a freezer.
Last Friday, police responded to Holly Street after a resident discovered a body frozen inside a freezer. The freezer had been given to an individual by a neighbor about three weeks earlier. Police said the remains of a female were intact and not dismembered in anyway.
The freezer and the remains were taken to the NC Medical Examiners’ Office where an autopsy was performed on Wednesday. The medical examiner identified the body but the name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. Police did say the victim was a Goldsboro resident.
The death was ruled as natural causes. There were no signs of foul play.
Police said they are still investigating how the body got into the freezer and if any other crimes occurred since the death. Officers have not said if any charges will be filed. In North Carolina, it is a felony to conceal or not notify authorities about the death of a person.
