Hundreds Attend NCWorks Job Fair At Johnston Community College

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — About 200 job seekers met with dozens of employers during a recent job fair at Johnston Community College aimed at connecting local residents with available positions across several high-demand industries.
The NCWorks Job Fair, held March 19 on the college’s main campus, featured 25 employers offering hundreds of job openings, organizers said.
Attendees had the opportunity to speak directly with recruiters from companies and agencies in fields including health care, biopharma, construction and local government. Participating employers included Grifols, Johnston County Government, Coca-Cola Consolidated, the N.C. Department of Transportation, American Air Filtration, Liberty Health and the Town of Clayton, among others.

College officials said the event was organized in partnership with Capital Area Workforce Development and NCWorks Career Centers to help strengthen connections between employers and the local workforce.
“It’s exciting to see our community come together in such a meaningful way,” said Johnston Community College President Dr. Vern Lindquist. “We have employers that are eager to invest in talent that’s cultivated right here in Johnston County.”
Lindquist said the partnership with NCWorks helps link residents with job opportunities that can have long-term impacts.
Organizers said similar events are planned in the future as workforce demand continues across the region.
