Husband Of Missing Woman Charged With Murder

CLINTON – The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday an arrest in the disappearance of a 30 year-old woman.

On April 14th, family members of Jasmina Judith Almendarez Zelaya reported her missing to law enforcement.  Relatives said they had not been able to contact Jasmina since April 6th and said it was out of character for her.

Investigators began actively searching for Jasmina and on Thursday sought the public’s assistance through through news outlets and social media..

Earlier today, Sampson County investigators with the assistance of the NC SBI obtained enough probable cause to charge Jasmina’s husband, Jose Fernando Quiroz, 27, of 7585 Turkey Highway, Turkey, NC with murder.

Authorities did not disclose how they believe Jasmina Zelaya was killed or if her body has been located.

“This is a very fluid and on-going investigation,” authorities said in a press release. “To protect the integrity of the on-going investigation and out of respect to the family of Jasmina, no further information will be released at this time.”
