BENSON – A three vehicle crash on Interstate 95 near Benson just after 7:00am Saturday caused major traffic delays.
The collision involved a tractor trailer, passenger car, and work van. The semi trailer came to rest on a concrete barrier in a work zone.
The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to WakeMed for treatment of unknown injuries. The drivers of the other two vehicles were evaluated at the scene by EMS.
The collision blocked both northbound lanes of I-95. Traffic was detoured onto US 301 in Benson until the interstate reopened around 10:30am.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the State Highway Patrol.
