I-95 South In Johnston County To Close Sunday Night

The NC Department of Transportation will close a section of Interstate 95 South at Exit 101 (Pittman Road) near Micro in Johnston County starting at 10:00pm Sunday, Nov. 15. The road will reopen by 6:00am Monday, Nov. 16.

The overnight closure is necessary for crews to prepare for a concrete repair project at this location next week. By closing this portion of the road, crews will be able to widen the median enough so that traffic may be shifted over at a safe distance while concrete repairs take place.

Road-Closed-Sign-FIDuring the closure Sunday night, traffic on I-95 South will take Exit 101 for Pittman Road to U.S. 301 to U.S. 70 south of Selma back to I-95.

Starting Monday, Nov. 16, the right lane of I-95 South will be closed at this location to allow crews to remove and replace concrete slabs on the road just south of Exit 101. Traffic will be shifted five feet towards the median, which will have been widened during the Sunday night closure to accommodate traffic.

The lane closure will be in place until crews have completed the project on Thursday, Nov. 19, weather permitting.

The on-ramp from Exit 101 (Pittman Road) to I-95 South will also be closed during this project. Traffic from Pittman Road accessing I-95 South will take I-95 North to Exit 102, cross over the interstate and then take the ramp back on to I-95 South.

Local residential and business traffic from Pittman Road will still be able to access the service road from the on-ramp at this exit.
