Major changes are in the works for the intersection of Highway 96 North of Selma and Live Oak Church Road.
Currently, Highway 96 makes a sharp free-flowing curve at the intersection and northbound traffic on Live Oak Church Road must come to a complete stop.
Starting Wednesday, weather permitting northbound traffic on Highway 96 will make a stop at a new t-intersection. Southbound traffic will have to make a 90 degree left turn. Live Oak Church Road traffic will be free flowing.
According to Jennifer Heiss, Communications Officer with the NC Department of Transportation, the road is being realigned as part of a driveway permit application for a Dollar General store locating at the rural intersection. Heiss said traffic counts were conducted at the intersection to ensure it was a viable solution.
