The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident at Cleveland High School that may have involved a firearm.
Last Friday, a female student was outside the school in the student parking area when a vehicle approached driven by a young female. The driver of the car allegedly began yelling and screaming at the student. The student said the operator of the car had a handgun in her lap. The weapon was not pointed at the student. The vehicle left prior to school resource officers being notified.
Officers later located the suspect but they denied having a handgun in their vehicle.
An eyewitness to the incident later came forward alleging they saw the same vehicle and driver at a nearby convenience store and there was a handgun in the vehicle at the time.
No charges have been filed but the incident remains under investigation.
