BENSON – Three people were injured Wednesday afternoon when two pickup trucks collided on Highway 50 in southern Johnston County. The collision was reported shortly after 4:00pm in the 4500 block of Highway 50 South near Five Points Road.
The State Highway Patrol said one pickup truck crossed the center line and slammed into the other truck. One person was pinned in the wreckage.
One of the three injuries was reported as serious.
The Meadow Fire Department and the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded and are assisting with a traffic detour. Highway 50 is expected to remain closed until 6:00pm.
