If you’ve noticed a lot of law enforcement activity on Interstate 95 in Johnston County there is a reason.
WTSB News has learned the Smithfield Police Department, Selma Police Department and Granville County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a three day interdiction enforcement operation. The enforcement campaign started on Wednesday and will end on Friday, according to Smithfield Police Captain R.K. Powell.
On Wednesday, 40 grams of suspected marijuana were found in a vehicle. Another traffic stop yielded a convicted felon in the possession of a handgun, Captain Powell said.
On Thursday, more narcotics and prescription pills were found, police said.
